ABOUT IBJJF
International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation
Created by Master Carlos Gracie Jnr, the International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) is the official body representing the sport of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. With its purpose to promote, organise and regulate the sport. It has been the pioneer of developments like the official competition rules of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. This system provides the standardised rules followed by Brazilian Jiu Jitsu practitioners all over the world.
Also, another focus of the IBJJF is to form the criteria on which Brazilian Jiu Jitsu practitioners grade their students. The intention is to preserve the integrity of the martial art and ensure that all instructors have clear guidelines to measure the technical evolution of their students.
Lastly, the IBJJF is actively involved in organising Brazilian Jiu Jitsu competitions. Its Jiu Jitsu World Championship held annually attracts the best Jiu Jitsu fighters alive. Competitors from countries such as the United States, Japan, South Africa, Australia, Portugal, Sweden and France compete regularly, and the numbers have continued to grow.
